AMR posts 2Q loss of $10.7m

AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, has made a net loss of $10.7m for the 2Q of 2010, however it is a large improvement from the $390m it lost in the same period in 2009.

AMR said it paid almost $334m on its fuel bill during the quarter, averaging $2.37 per gallon – compared to the $1.9 per gallon it paid in the 2Q 2009. "Though increased fuel prices added dramatically to our expenses this quarter, we made substantial progress improving our financial," said Gerard Arpey, AMR chairman and CEO.
