British Airways takes step to reach emissions goal
British Airways Property Services has achieved the Carbon Trust Standard, the first carbon award to require an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and make real reductions year-on-year.
The accreditation lasts for two years, during which time continuous improvement must be maintained. EMCOR Group has been working as British Airways’ facilities management partner to reduce energy use across the company’s property portfolio by around eight per cent, resulting in a significant impact on its annual energy costs and supporting British Airways’ wider target of reducing its net CO2 emissions by 50 per cent by 2050.
