Lufthansa to trial biofuels

Lufthansa has announced that it is planning a series of biofuel test flights.

The German carrier is said to be in the early stages of planning long term test flights, on which it will use a mix of biomass-to-liquid fuel and kerosene. The airline has contacted a number of fuel and engine producers as it seeks a supply deal. Ultimately, Lufthansa is aiming to start using some biofuel on commercial flights by 2012.
