UK political parties attacked for lack of green election agenda
Ahead of the UK general election, the Centre for Alternative Technology has criticised the main three political parties for a “lack of commitment and vision in tackling climate change”.
Paul Allen, external relations director at CAT, said: “Climate science demands that we make carbon emission reductions of 100 per cent by 2030. We have the technological ability to meet our reduced energy demands with renewable energies. Any new government must ensure that we tackle rising carbon emissions at home through a just and fair transition to a green economy.” CAT called on the leaders of all political parties to explain why plans to combat climate change and for the transition to a green economy have fallen down the agenda at this election.
